(5 out of 5) Exceptional value and great customer service
by from W LAFAYETTE, OH on

I've been watching for the Hatsan Escort 22LR at Vance and picked one up yesterday on the first day of Vance's monthly sale. I expected to have to pick a number and wait, but Vance had the foresight to have more than enough sales people on the floor at the Hebron store. As soon as I approached the counter Zach met me with a helpful smile. This is why I spend my happy money at Vance Outdoors. On to the rifle: I own Sakos, CZs, Zastavas, KSA, Savage and Remington rifles. I enjoy tinkering. Unfortunately even my CZs require a bit of fine tuning to shoot well. With the purchase of the Escort, I expected I'd be recrowning the barrel, stoning the trigger parts and removing wood from the stock to get it to shoot at an acceptable level. Diamond in the rough, so to speak. Zach allowed me plenty of time to inspect the rifle prior to purchase. I found a good crown and chamber, a good fitting stock and overall a very attractive and well built rifle. Upon bringing it home the bore got cleaned and a scope mounted for accuracy testing. This morning I set up a workmate in my garage and using a bipod and rear bag shot Geco Rifle at 45 yards in the wind and the rain. First 5 shots to foul the bore and the next 10 in a 5/8 center to center group. This rifle shows exceptional promise. I expect with better ammo and more rounds to break it in, it will be one of my more accurate 22 rifles. I hope to be able to update this review once I can get outside and shoot at 50 yards and give some more accurate 5 shot groups with different ammo. Next step,  invite my neighbor over with his CZ455 and out-shoot a rifle costing twice as much.
