At the heart of the Defender M556L is the HM patented MONOBLOC barrel, which features an integrally machined gas block for maximum stability and precision. Chambered in 5.56 NATO/223 Rem, the 4150 Chromoly barrel is 16 inches in length, boasts a 1:8 twist ratio, and a mid-length gas system. Every HM Defense barrel is match-grade, triple honed, and button rifled for superior accuracy.
The custom HM Defense 15 inch, free float 1913 Picatinny rail is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum, ensuring rugged reliability and easy compatibility with Magpul M-LOK mounting system. The Mil-Spec Forged 7075-T6 Lower Receiver with Type III Class I hard-coat black anodized finish provides rock-solid support for the rest of the rifle.
The Defender M556L also comes with a Mil-Spec Forged 7075-T6 M4 Upper Receiver with Type III Class II hard-coat black anodized finish, M4 Feed Ramps, and a 1913 Picatinny rail flat top. The rifle includes a M16 bolt carrier group with patented HMB bolt and Mil-Spec components, including the trigger & fire control group, charging handle, and buffer tube/spring. The custom Trigger Guard, Monobloc Dust Cover, and CNC Machined Muzzle Brake further enhance the rifle's accuracy and performance.
